Cavite Hosts the 5th Southern Tagalog Regional Congress

With the theme "Cooperatives Towards a Unified Direction," the province of Cavite prepares the stage for the conduct of the 5th Southern Tagalog Regional Cooperative Congress on August 18, 2006 at the Development Academy of the Philippines Conference Center in Tagaytay City.

The congress aims not only to surface issues and concerns but also to set the tone and direction for unified and cohesive cooperative organization. Solidarity messages will be provided by Mr. Senen Bacani, Chairman of the Philippine Coop Center and the Hon. Lecira V. Juarez, CDA Chairperson. Ms. Juarez will deliver a relevant message on the topic "Prospects and Directions for a Strong and Unified Cooperative Sector."

The state of cooperatives in the region will also be conversed. Ms. Nonie Hernandez, CDA IV Regional Director will present the CDA perspective while Ms. Shirley P. Placino, CUST Chairperson and Mr. Khervy B. Reyes, Head, Cooperative -Cavite, will discussed the cooperative sector and local government unit perspective, respectively.

The Congress will culminate with presentation of various action agenda. Mr. Lauro Monzon, Cooperative Union of Cavite Director, shall discussed "Cooperative Policy Development and Advocacy;" Dr. Crispina R. Corpuz, CAFFMACO Chairperson, on "Cooperative Human Resource Development;" Dr. Emmanuel M. Santiaguel, League of CDOs President, on "Sustaining Coop-LGU partnership" and Dr. Alfredo B. De Torres, ACCI/CPAf-UPLB Professor on "Framework for Rationalization of Institutional and Structural Conduct of Coop Congress: A Paradigm Shift."

The Congress is staged with the assistance from the provincial government in partnership with the Cavite Provincial Cooperative Development Council (CPDC), the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), The Cooperative Union of of Southern Tagalog (CUST) and the CPAf-UPLB.
